Those members who attended last Tuesday all commented how nice it was that the sun had risen prior to the commencement of the meeting!


As you know July was a record month for being dry and unseasonably warm and not many of us city dwellers complain. However most of the state is experiencing a serious drought and at my first presidents’ meeting which I attended late last month it was a topic of discussion and our district has set up a Drought Relief Program. Details of such are in the current DG’s newsletter.


Jenny Horsfield gave an interesting talk on her soon to be released book “Voices beyond the suburbs: the soldier settlers of Tuggeranong”.  She highlighted 2 of the 8 returned servicemen covered in her book, their experiences both during the Great War and their struggles working the settlement blocks.


Next Tuesday morning, we are pleased to welcome DG Susan Wakefield to our club.
