Firstly, let me pass on my thanks to all those members and friends who braved the wet weather to assist us at the Bunnings BBQ on Sunday.  A special thanks to young Toby and his friend, Jed, who both put in a great effort with the afternoon team of volunteers. Whilst we did clear over $9000 on the day there is no doubt the cold wet conditions affected sales. However, a good fun day was had by all attendees.

Our speaker at last Tuesday’s meeting, Peter Kirkwood, gave us an insight to the impact trachoma is having on the remote Indigenous communities of Australia.  The EndTrachoma by 2020 project aims to significantly reduce and ultimately end this blinding affliction by ensuring steps are taken to educate these communities in the need for personal hygiene and by providing they have access to safe and functional washing facilities.

You will see in this bulletin a flyer promoting our Halloween Party, to be held at the Cammeray Golf Club, on Saturday, 10 November.  Please get a group of friends together and book a table for this fun event.

Our club member Colin Bush will be speaking to us next Tuesday, 16 October. on the subject of Rail Safety and will present to us a number of incidents he has been involved with and the causes and results of such.
