Can you remember where you were on each Boxing Day for the past 46 years?  Lindsay May, our speaker last Tuesday can, he has been on board a yacht competing in the Sydney to Hobart race! He holds the record for having competed in the most consecutive races. A large number of members and guests had the great pleasure to hear about the 2018 race from Lindsay accompanied by fantastic photos of the Sydney Harbour start, competing yachts, the rugged coastline of Tasmania and the finish in Hobart.

While a lot of people think it is just a case of getting out of the harbour, doing a right-hand turn and heading South, Lindsay informed us of the various factors such as ocean currents that can assist their passage.

Later that morning PP Iain and myself visited the North Sydney offices of Mary MacKillop Today. We were very pleased to present our cheque for $10,000, being part of the proceeds from our involvement with the World Festival of Magic, to help fund their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship program.

On Tuesday, 22 January our speaker will be Denise Ward from the Crows Nest Community Centre to update us on the wonderful work they undertake in the area.
