As you all know last Tuesday morning winter finally arrived in Sydney and such conditions may have had an impact on the attendance numbers at our meeting.  Despite such adverse weather a small number of members and one guest enjoyed a much-anticipated return of Doug Cato to inform us on the results of a very comprehensive study into the effects that seismic surveying of the sea floor for oil, gas and minerals has on marine life, especially whales.  Doug had informed us of the project when he spoke at our club 3 years previously. The work was conducted off the Sunshine Coast , Qld and was probably the largest and most comprehensive study of its kind with almost 100 scientists in the field.

As I mentioned in last week’s bulletin Lindy and myself assisted in the Red Shield Appeal on Sunday, 26 May and I have now been informed by Rotary Club of North Sydney that over $12,000.00 was raised by the wonderful efforts of the students from nearby schools on their morning’s door knocking. Well done!

On Tuesday, 11 June our meeting will be a Club Forum and I invite all members to attend to join in the discussion.
