Welcome to my first bulletin since I departed for a five week visit to UK / France on 19 June, visiting family and friends.  My daughter, Natalie, her husband Mark and my 3 grandsons live in Denmead, Hampshire just north of the city of Portsmouth. As you will have seen Europe has experienced one of the hottest Summers and it was a pleasant change from the sometimes wet and cool conditions I have encountered on previous visits.

I attended a dinner meeting of the Rotary Club of Havant, Hampshire and they were very interested to hear from me on how Rotary clubs in our district are adapting to the impacts brought about by social media and lifestyle changes. In my absence our breakfast meetings were chaired by our very experienced team of Past Presidents, well done to you all.

Last Tuesday evening, members and guests enjoyed a wonderful meal at Ivan & Lissie’s for our changeover dinner. A big thanks to Moira for arranging the event and to MC Warren for his efforts on the night. It was also a pleasure to welcome new member, John McGregor, to our club. We have a busy few months ahead of us with 2 Bunnings BBQ’s, The World Festival of Magic and the Halloween Party and I am confident all our members will give their time and efforts to ensure these events are successful.

On Tuesday, 6 August our club member Don Napper will be the guest speaker on the subject “The Story of Cockatoo Island “.
