Last Tuesday evening 13 of our club members joined an online Zoom meeting and it was nice to see your faces and hear about the daily routines during isolation.  Thanks to Andrew Young for enabling members to enjoy a smooth transition to the Zoom platform.

We agreed that it was a great idea for us to continue these online meetings until the situation allows us to once again enjoy breakfasts at Piato.  Ken will also approach possible speakers to join us in future online meetings.

Allen Colburt gave us an update on our involvement with Molong Rotary Club and their application for a Drought Relief grant from the Cabonne Shire Council. The $5,000 grant has been approved and the funds will be transferred from Molong Rotary Club’s bank account to our club’s account and together with our donation will total $8,000.  This sum will then be matched by RAWCS and the $16,000 will be forwarded to Molong’s two schools to enable students to take excursions when the travel restrictions are lifted.  I would like to thank Allen for his efforts in procuring such a wonderful outcome for the Molong community.

Our association with Books in Homes through the Stuart Town Public School located near Molong will allow us to visit Molong when travel restrictions allow. The end of second term Book Giving Assembly at the school has been cancelled but we trust that such an event later in the year will enable myself and other club members to visit the region.

The District 9685 Conference which was to be held in Wollongong over the weekend of 21 / 22 March was of course cancelled but the District Assembly will be held online on Sunday 19 April.

In these difficult times we as Rotarians need to utilise the technologies we have access to and continue serving our communities.
