President’s Press – 15 February

Many thanks to everyone who came to our Club Forum last Tuesday and made the discussion of our activities and plans so lively!

Moira drove straight down the middle of the first fairway on the agenda, reporting we are in a solid financial position with healthy balances in both Club and Charity accounts. Our ‘Living Fences’ project has now been completed and the final instalment of the $2,500 District Matching Grant has been approved. This has been a particularly satisfying project, making excellent use of our funds and RI opportunities and we propose to investigate how we can follow the benefits on the ground by helping the participating communities to develop further their circumstances and wellbeing. Andrew advised he was interested in joining a future visit to Eastern Indonesia by the NTA steering group, a prospect welcomed by all.

Bookings are already coming in for our breakfast on 24th April for the Hon. Victor Dominello, Minister for Finance in the NSW Government. Everyone is encouraged to let Moira know whether they can attend and if they will bring guests. The weekend before this event, we have our Bunnings BBQ for this half year. After a raging debate, it seems the price of sizzle set by Bunnings will not increase.

Over these few days, Jaz is heading inland away from the Western Australian coast on her 80 day adventure in order to avoid a threatening Cyclone Kevin. We wish her dry, open roads!
