President’s Press – 15 March 2018

The month gallops along and it will soon be April which is a very busy month in our club calendar. Last week reinforced yet again what an extremely worthwhile course RYLA is.  Sarah Aldrich attended RYLA through our sponsorship and last week she shared with us some of her experiences and benefits she came away with from the weeklong course. Her well thought out and professional presentation gave us an excellent insight into the RYLA week and the personal development she and indeed all 75 of the participants, from a wide range of backgrounds, strengths and weaknesses gained as they individually grew their leadership skills. Sarah expressed her genuine appreciation to our club for sponsoring her. It was also a pleasure to welcome Sarah’s mother, Sue to our meeting.

The second speaker planned for last week had to apologise in advance, so we had some very interesting member presentations on: Our District Conference at Leura last weekend. Our club was admirably represented by PE Allan, Moira, Cathie and Ken. A District Vocational Award was presented to our local Doug Cato.

From all reports a successful conference and from photos seen, our crew had plenty of impact with their dress ups for the Saturday night function.

Around Australia in 80 Days – interrupted by deluge!  Jaz shared some more of her travel tales. No mean feat this journey!! Mary’s House update and Art by handicapped people at a tenancy in the Crows Nest Centre. (Trent briefed us on both having recently visited each of them). This week Neil Dix will give us an update on the Sydney Metro and President Iain returns from his travels.
