Diving with the Kiwis among the penguins

Matt McArthur -  In a twenty-year career in marine science, Antarctica has never been far from his mind, having become obsessed by the idea of an ice continent to our south as soon as he understood the concept.  His career choices gave him the experience that led to his first invitation south in 2004.  Diving under the sea ice in McMurdo Sound didn’t scratch an itch so much as an induce a rash and Matt continues to read, write and podcast about Antarctica as part of his work and hobbies while in Melbourne, and he returns south at every opportunity.  See his website -   divermatt.com.au

This talk will recount his experiences as part of a research team at Scott Base, diving under the sea ice around the shores of Ross Island.
